Pancha Karma treatment means five treatments those include Vaman, Virechan, Anuvasan Vasti, Asthapan Vasti and Nasya Karma associated with many other ancillary treatments. All these treatments look very simple. Of course they are simple as they are achieved through the natural path. Obviously they are practiced in many Ayurvedic hospitals. But point to be noted: it is not important just, to perform pancha karma, it is important to eliminate toxin, cure disease, not to create another disease or complication and perform pancha Karma with proper traditional and scientific guidelines.
Virechan is one of the important treatments of the five pancha karmas. Because it is the only trteatment that starts at the mouth during the intake of medicines and ends in the anus during the defecation. Virechan is induction of loose motion by intake of internal medicine orally. It eliminates pitta.
Virechan or defecation process includes four mechanisms. -Anuloman that defecates the bowel after getting it digested. – Sramsan that brushes out the sticky stool. – Bhedan that defecates the bundled and hard bowel. – Rechan that liquefies the stool and defecate. All these four mechanisms are achieved by deferent medicines. This treatment is indicated in fever, asthma, arthritis, paralysis, skin diseases like psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo(leucoderma), blister, piles, blemishes, jaundice, chronic fever, spleen disease, gout, conjunctivitis, all eye diseases etc. In Astang Ayurveda Hospital we perform Virechan karma regularly
